Fred is 8 years older than frank . Francis is 3 years younger than Fred . If the sum of their ages is 40 , find the age of each child 
Let Fred's age be F

Then Frank's is: F - 8

Francis' is: F - 3

We then get: F + F - 8 + F - 3 = 40

Solve for F, Fred's age, and find the others' ages.
