First, keep in mind that this problem is really hard. It took me sometime to figure it out.

We have three subparts to the problem. Each part determines the number of fish in the basket when each fisherman arrives. The equations are:

for the last fisherman

for the second fishermna

and

for the third fisherman

We can guess at a solution by selecting values for x and substituting them into each equation. You might have to scroll down a bit to find the answer:

I missed 7 in my first answer, which just goes to show that writing everything out and putting it into a table is a good idea
