They want you solve  

     = 25.


Take square root of both sides

    y = +/-  = +/- 5.


The original equation has two roots. 

One root is y= 5.

Another root is y= -5.


CHECK.   = 25.       ! correct !

         = 25.    ! correct !


ANSWER.  The original equation has two solutions:  y = 5  and  y = -5.
