Question 1194377: Math's
A jar contains 10 coins: 3 pennies, 2 nickels, 4 dimes, and 1 quarter. Two coins are selected at random from the jar with replacement (the coin is pulled, looked at, then put back in the jar.) Find the probability that a dime is selected first, then a quarter. You should write your answer as a decimal.uld write your answer as a decimal.

There are 4 dimes out of 10 coins total.
The probability of picking a dime is 4/10 = 2/5

That coin is put back, meaning the original state of the jar has not changed. In turn, it leads to the probability of picking a quarter to be the same as if it was selected first.
If on the other hand the coin wasn't put back, then the probability for the second selection would change.

There is 1 quarter out of 10 coins.
The probability of picking a quarter is 1/10

Multiply the two fractions mentioned:
(2/5)*(1/10) = 2/50 = 4/100 = 0.04

Answer: 0.04
