samples. Of course, not every passerby takes the sample, but an average of 6 people per
half hour does. Suppose Ryley is partway through their shift of handing out the free
samples and has given out 14 samples so far.

a) Write an explicit formula for 𝑃𝑛, the number of free samples handed out after n halfhours.

b) If Ryley has 4 hours remaining in their shift, how many samples would they expect to
have given out by the time they get to go home?

c) Suppose Ryley, instead of a shift of a certain length of time, has to keep working until
they give away 50 free samples. How much more time does Ryley figure they have
to stay at work today?
