Question 1054390: There was an experienced employee and a student. It took them 6 months to complete a project together. The student works 3 times slower than the experienced employee. How long would it take the student to complete the project on his own

Let n be the amount of time it takes the experienced employee to finish the project alone. Then the student would be 3n. So:
1/n+1/3n=1/6
18+6=3n
n=8
It takes the experienced employee 8 months, and the student 24, to finish the project alone. ☺☺☺☺
