as for your Q... quick answer would be 7!. However, there are 3 S's, so ULYSSES, ULYSSES, ULYSSES, ULYSSES, ULYSSES and ULYSSES are in fact 6 different versions of the letters...the S's are all differently arranged. Of course, you cannot see any difference, hence we remove these repetitions by dividing by 3!, so we have 7!/3! which means (7.6.5.4.3.2.1)/(3.2.1), which is (7.6.5.4). This works out as 840 variations.
