Question 201853: Persons are classified according to blood type snd Rh quality by testing a blood smaple for the presence of the three antigens: A, B, and Rh. Blood is of type AB if it contains antigens A and B: A if it contains A, but not B; if it contains B, but not A: andO if it contains neither A nor B. In addition, blodd is classified as Rh postive(+) if the Rh antigen is present and Rh negative(-) otherwise. A national report stated that if 1000 people were picked at random and their blood were sampled, the statistics indicated that 490 would contain antigen A, 515 would contain B, 430 would contain Rh, 205 would contain A and B, 140 would contain A and Rh, 160 would contain B and Rh, 205 would contain A and B, 140 would contain A and Rh, 160 would contain B and Rh, and 60 would contain all three. On the basis of this information; determine which of the eight blood classifications is the most plentiful and which is the rarest.

your number are not adding up.
I don't see blood type O in the sample.
were there none?
you indicated that 1000 people were sampled.
the numbers I am seeing are:
A DISABLED_event_only= 490
B DISABLED_event_only= 515
AB (both A and B) = 205
the numbers add up to more than 1000 and there are no O's.
I would have expected to see some.
You also show that 430 were RH positive.
You then indicated that you had 140 A + 160 B + 60 AB that were RH positive.
That only adds up to 360 RH Positive in total.
Please check your numbers and make sure that you are showing them correctly.
They look a little off to me.
If I forget about the numbers not adding up, I would have to say that type O is the rarest cause it didn't even show up.
Next rarest appears to be AB+ (AB Positive).
B- (B Negative) appears to be the most plentiful followed by A-.
I calculated based on the information you provided which was:

Persons are classified according to blood type snd Rh quality by testing a blood smaple for the presence of the three antigens: A, B, and Rh.

Based on the information you provided, I got the following numbers.
A = 490
B = 515
Rh = 430
AB = 205
A+ = 140
B+ = 160
AB+ = 60
My assumptions were that Rh was the total of all the positive Rh blood types.
This included A+, B+, AB+. The total of those 3 was 360 which made me wonder where the rest of the Rh went.
My assumptions were also that A+ was part of the A group and that the difference was A- (No Rh present). 490 - 140 left 350 so the A blood types were divided into:
A- = 350
A+ = 140
Total A = 490
Similarly, the B blood types were divided into:
B- = 355
B+ = 160
Total B = 515
Similarly, the AB blood types were divided into:
AB- = 145
AB+ = 60
If I rank them by blood type and Rh Factor, I get (most to least)
B- = 355
A- = 350
B+ = 160
AB- = 145
A+ = 140
AB+ = 60
O- = 0 (not shown)
O+ = 0 (not shown)
Rh was considered to be a characteristic of the other blood types rather than a blood type by itself.
