: If you subtract a negative number from a positive number, the result is always a positive number? Is this true or false? Answer by longjonsilver(2297)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
negative number = -2 and -10
positive number = +6

so 2 examples - one with a digit value closer to zero than 6 and one larger than 6:

+6 - -2 --> +6 + 2 = +8
+6 - -10 --> +6 + 10 = +16

subtracting a minus number is like adding. So adding a number to an already positive number will always give you a positive answer.
