An integer is a whole number. So -4,1,2,3,etc are integers. As long they are whole and don't have fractions or decimal parts. So -8 is an integer and so is 0. A "ratio"nal number is a "ratio" between two integers. So 3/4 is a rational number, 3 is a rational number (it can be expressed as ) etc. So these numbers are rational numbers: -8 (), -.6 (it can be expressed as ) 0 (), 3/4, 5, 13/2,17 (), and 40/2. An irrational number is a number that cannot be expressed as a fraction of 2 integers. Numbers like , , and are irrational. All of these numbers that are in the problem are real numbers, so you don't have to worry about classifying them. Later you will learn about complex numbers (which are part of a different set of numbers), but for now we won't worry about it. Finally, any number that you use to count objects (0,1,2,3...) are natural numbers. So the numbers 0, 17 and 40/2 () are natural numbers. So some of these numbers belong to many groups, so there isn't one answer for all of them. Hope this helps.
