You can
put this solution on YOUR website!
equation is:
8.91 * 10^7
if you multiply by 10^0 you do not move the decimal point.
8.91 * 10^0 = 8.91 * 1 = 8.91
if you multiply by 10^1 you move the decimal point to the right 1 place.
8.91 * 10^1 = 8.91 * 10 = 89.1
if you multiply by 10^2 you move the decimal point to the right 2 places.
8.91 * 10^2 = 8.91 * 100 = 891.0
extrapolate from this to find that when you multiply by 10^7 you are moving the decimal point to the right 7 places.
8.91 * 10^7 is therefore equal to 89100000.
you move the decimal point 2 places to the right to get 891.
you then add 5 more 0's to move to the right 5 more places to get 89100000.
the total movement of the decimal places was 7 places to the right.
that's equivalent to 89,100,000.
use your calculator to confirm.
