subtract 4 from both sides
Divide both sides by 2
Just remember, whatever you do to one side, you have to do to the other side in order for the 'equation' to balance. Think of the equal sign as the middle of a weight balance. So whatever you do on the left, you must also do on the right to stay 'in balance'
