Question 175445: Given:1 over X is less than or equal to 1 for 1,2 and 3
Conjecture: 1 over X is greater than or equal to 1 for all reals.
I already know that the conjecture is false but my teacher didnt like my reasoning for it. I said that 1,2 and 3 are all reals but not every number will work in this problem such as an integer that is negative or an irrational number. If I said something wrong please correct me.

actually the conjecture is correct for all Real x's except for
:
such as 1/10 or 1/2....etc
:
once you show one example of your conjecture not working it is false.
:
your example of (integer that is negative or an irrational number) does not negate the conjecture because it is still true with those values.
example 1/-5 is less than 1
is less than one
