You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To subtract a number, you add its "additive inverse".
The "additive inverse" of a number is the same number (absolute value) but having the opposite sign.
Examples:
6-9 = 6+(-9) The additive inverse of 9 is -9
-5-(-6) = -5+6 = 1 The additive inverse of -6 is 6
So you are changing the subtraction problem to an addition problem.
10-6 = 10+(-6) = 4
-12-4 = -12+(-4) = -16
