Communitative is basically a times b equals b times a. or ab=ba. Associative is a(bc)= (ab)c or a times (b times c) equals (a times b) times c. so the only difference is that in communitative it's the same either way. so like 6 times 3 equals 18, just like 3 times 6 equals 18. But associtative is more like 2(3x4)= 24, just like (2x3)4= 24

Commutative 85+96=80+(90+5)+6
Associative 85+96=80+(5+90)+6
