First, what constitutes a difference of less-than-two from a pair of dice?
Well...0 < 2 and 1 < 2
How many ways can you get a difference of zero?
6-6 = 0
5-5 = 0
4-4 = 0
3-3 = 0
2-2 = 0
1-1 = 0
Six ways.
Now, how many ways can you get a differenc of one?
6-5 = 1
5-4 = 1
4-3 = 1
3-2 = 1
2-1 = 1
Five ways.
So you can get a difference of less than two in eleven ways.
What are total possible number of different outcomes from rolling a pair of dice?
Thirtysix.
