How to get that answer:
First rewrite each of those given fractions to have the LCD (lowest common denominator) of 30
1/6 = 5/30
2/5 = 12/30
This will allow us to add the fractions. Specifically we add the numerators and keep the denominator the same.

Adding up the fractions leads to
5/30 + 12/30 = 17/30

Then we cut that result in half, which is the same as multiplying by 1/2
(17/30)*(1/2) = 17/60
