OneFit, fitness centre has 100 members
and grows by 20 members per month
Lest x be the number of months
growth after x years = 100 +20x
ByGym has 400 members loses 10 members per month.
members after x years 400-10x
For one fit to have the same number of members as ByGym we equate both
100+2x = 400-10x
12x=300
x= 25

.

OneFit population = 100 + 20x

ByGym population  = 400 - 10x

100 + 20x = 400 - 10x

10x + 20x = 400 - 100

30x       = 300

  x       =  300/30    = 10.

ByGym starts with 300 more members than OneFit.

Each month, the relative change in numbers of members is 30 -- OneFit gains 20 and ByGym loses 10.

The number of months it will take OneFit to make up the initial difference of 300 is 300/30 = 10.
