Divide both sides by 9

Cancel the 9's on the left:

x%5E2 = 14%2F9

Take square roots of both sides:

sqrt%28x%5E2%29 = ±sqrt%2814%2F9%29

x = ±sqrt%2814%29%2Fsqrt%289%29

x = ±sqrt%2814%29%2F3

There are two solutions

x = sqrt%2814%29%2F3 and x = -sqrt%2814%29%2F3
