Question 186740: When an arrow is shot in the air, the height of the arrow h(t),at time t, t>or equal to 0, is determined by the equation h(t)= -4tsquared +16t+1.For which interval of time is the height of the arrow greater than or equal to 11 meters?
I figured out the vertex (2,17) and roots are in decimals-.0615528128 and 4.061552813. I believe the 4.061552813 is how long it takes to go up and down, reaching 17 meters going up, but I don't know how long for 11 meters. I missed on how to do this I was sick all week and have no one to explain it to me. Please help me. Chantal Laroche

Under option 2 they could take a monthly allowance of $5 this year (year 0), and the amount would double every year until they turn 18 (year 10). Question 186860: HELP PLEASE!! Determine whether the following equation have a solution or not? √2 x² - 4x – 7 √2 = 0''. This is the way I done it but I am not sure if I did the equdratic portion correctly. I get confused on having to divide the equation by 2(√2). The square root is what is confusing me.
2 solutions because the discriminate = 72 which is > 0
b² - 4ac
= (-4)² - 4(√2) (-7√2)
= 16 – 4(2) (-7)
= 72
Solution 1:
X = -b ±√b² - 4ac /2a
X = -(-4) + √72 /2(√2)
X = 4 + 8.485281374 /2.828427125
X = 4.414213562
Solution 2:
X = -b ±√b² - 4ac /2a
X = -(-4) - √72 /2(√2)
X = 4 – 8.485281374/2.828427125
X = -1.585786437
