Question 43139: I have to simplify the following expression. Can you please tell me if I did this right?
sqrt45x^23 That is the square root of 45 x to the 23rd power.
Here is what I am getting. I'm not sure I am doing the "to the power" part right.
sqrt 9*x^16*5x^7
= sqrt9x^16 * sqrt5x^7
= 3x^4 sqrt5x^7
Am I right?

Question 44138: Don't understand what is correct way to do this!
Question: What's wrong with using product rule for solving equation -4(under radical sign) times -4 (under the radical sign?
I would say put both under radical and then square to get correct answer of 4. Notes say what is correct product? Hinted that 4 was not it.

: I am having trouble with this problem I have gotten about half way through and can not figure out the rest.
Use the quadratic formula to solve each equation.
900x^2 - 8,100x = 1,800
This is what I have come up with so far, Maybe I am making a mistake that I am overlooking.
900x^2/90 - 8,100x/90 = 1,800/90
10x^2 - 90x = 20
10x^2 - 90x - 20 = 0



This is where I have gotten stuck.
I hope this problem is readable, I am having trouble figuring out the right way to type it on here.

My answer is no where even close to what the book says it should be. I am in desperate need of help with these types of problems. My book says the answer should be (3 + sqrt(29))/2 or (3 - sqrt(29))/2

The answer in my book for this problem is (-5 + sqrt17)/2 or (-5 - sqrt17)/2
I am having trouble figuring out how to get this answer. This was my latest attempt to it.
x^2/2 + 5/2x = -1
2x^2 + 5x = -2
2x^2 + 5x + 2 = 0


Im lost as to what I am doing wrong with this one.
