You can put this solution on YOUR website!
12x%5E2+-+6+=+x
12x%5E2+-+x+-+6+=+0

now work out %28b%5E2+-+4ac%29 where a = 12, b = -1 and c = -6

--> %28-1%29%5E2+-+%284%29%2A%2812%29%2A%28-6%29
--> 1 + 288
--> 289

if b%5E2+-+4ac is zero --> 1 rational root
if b%5E2+-+4ac is +ve --> 2 roots
--> if sqrt%28b%5E2+-+4ac%29 is a natural number then roots are rational
--> if sqrt%28b%5E2+-+4ac%29 remains a square root, then roots are irrational

Now, sqrt%28289%29 is 17 so we have rational roots.

Using the full Quadratic formula, we have:

x+=+%281+%2B+7%29%2F24 and x+=+%281+-+7%29%2F24
so, x = 8/24 and x = -6/24
--> x = 1/3, x = -1/4
