3x^2 = 2x+5

So far I got:
3x^2= 2x+5
-3x^2 -3x^2
-3x^2 +2x+5=0
X=-(2) ± (sqr of 2^2 - 4(-3)(5) ) / 2(-3)
X= -2 ± (sqr of 4- -60) / -6
X= -2 ± (sqr of 64) / -6
X= -2 ± (sqr of 8 )/ -6
X= -2 ± 2 (sqr of 2) /-6
I am unsure what to do after this, if anything at all. Can u show me step by step what to do and explain where I went wrong? I think I'm on the right track but it got tricky with the -6. Thank you so much for even considering my request.

1) The distance an object falls is directly proportional to the square of the time it has been falling. After 6 seconds it has fallen 1296 feet. How longwill it take to fall 2304 feet?

2) x varies directly as the square of s and inversely as t. How does x change when s is doubled? When both s and t are doubled?

Question 162104: I have to complete the square for this problem..
x^2+13=(-14x)I have this
I added 14 x to both sides which left me with
x^2+14x+13=0
then I subtracted 13 from both sides which left me with
x^2+14x+49=13+49
so I have factor 14x which is (x+7)
so (x+7)^2= (13+49)=62
so I have to get the square root of both sides which leaves me with
(x+7)=square root of 62
now I do not know what to do.
