Question 121116: We have to measure the distance from the diagonal of our computer screen and to the nearest tenth of centimeter or sixteenth of an inch. Measure the height of the screen along the vertical as well. I came up the measurements of 19 for the diagonal and 12 for the height and 14 for the horizontal. Could you please help me solve? I measured and got 14 for my height and my measurements are off? Please help

((1.8*10^-3)/(9.0*10^-4))^X = ((6.4*10^-1)/(8.0*10^-2))
In case this is confusing the way it is written out, on the left side of the equation the entire division problem is raised to the power of x.
I know this is a quadratic problem, where I have to get to ax^2 + bx + c = 0, then go on and plug the numbers into the quadratic formula. I'm having trouble getting it into this form though. The professor said that the final answer is 3, but I havent been able to get that on my own. I'd appreciate if anyone could give me a step-by-step explanation of how to do this, so that I can go on to do the other similar problems on my own. Thanks a lot!

Question 121241: ((0.5-2x)(0.16-x))/(0.3 + x) = (1.2)(10^-2)
I know the answers to this are 0.279 and 0.137, but everytime I work out the problem I get something completely different. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me get this into ax^2 +bx+c=0 form and then into the quadratic formula. Thanks a lot!
