Question 288874: Find the exact complex number solutions to the quadratic equation using the quadratic formula....
-5x^2=-5x+6=0
I guess the two "=" signs are throwing me off.
I moved the -5x^2 to the right to get rid of the negative value.
Making the equation
5x^2-5x+6=0
Quadratic Formula:
-b +- square root b^2-4ac/2a
a=5 b=-5 c=6
-(-5)+- square root (-5)^2-4(5)(6)/2(5)
Disregarding imaginary numbers; I came up with "No Real Solution"
as my answer was
5+- square root -95/10
Am I correct?

Question 288969: A rain gutter is made from sheets of aluminum that are 30 inches wide. The edges are truned up to fom right angles. Determine the depth of the gutter that will allow a cross-sectional area of 40 square inches. Show that there are two different solutions to the problem. tound to the nearest tenth of an inch. The width of the gutter, after turning up the edges, is given as 30-2x. Its depth is given as x
The area is x(30-2x)
Set this expression equal to the given area, 40
The final answer is x approximately = 1.5, 13.5 inches. How did they get the final answer?

Question 289526: Hello I created this quadratic equation and want to make sure it is correct please if you could tell me if it is right or not. if it is not can you redo the problem with the correct parts that I might have done wrong.
Suppose the demand and price for a multiday vitamin are related by p= .0020q + 1, where p is the price (in dollars) of a 30 day supply. If the demand is related to the price by p = -.0030q + 24.99.
What are the equilibrium quantity and price?
Answer:
.0020q + 1 = -.0030q + 24.99
10q = 24.98
q = 2.498
p= .0020 (2.498) + 1 = 5.996 or $6.00
equilibrium quantity is 2.498 vitamins at an equilibrium price of $6.00

Question 290255: Dear tutor, I am in Iraq about to fail my math class. Can you please assist with these problems?
Suppose you are an event coordinator for a large performance theater. One of the hottest new Broadway musicals has started to tour and your city is the first stop on the tour. You need to supply information about projected ticket sales to the box office manager. The box office manager uses this information to anticipate staffing needs until the tickets sell out. You provide the manager with a quadratic equation that models the expected number of ticket sales for each day x. (x = 1 is the day tickets go on sale).
tickets = -0.2^2 + 12x + 11
In this equation, does the graph of the equation open up or down?
Describe what happens to the tickets sales as time passes?
Use the quadratic equation to determine the last day that tickets will be sold.
Note. Write your answer in terms of the number of days after ticket sales begin.
After how many days will the peak or low occur?
