Question 242538: the path of a golf ball hit at an angle of about 10 degrees to the horizontal can be modelled by the function h= -0.002dsquared + 0.4d
where h is the height of the ball, in metres, and d is the horizontal distance the ball travels, in metres, until it first hits the ground.
a. What is the maximum height reached by the ball?
b, What is the horizontal distance of the ball from the golfer when the ball reaches its maximum height?
c. What distance does the ball travel horizontally until it first hits the ground?

Question 243052: how do you solve -3/u+1=-8+7/u+2
Step 1: Group like terms together
-3/u-7/u = -8+2-1
Step 2: find LCF of the demoninators of the equation at the left of the equal sign. Here you will realise that U is the LCF and so factorised as
-3-7/U = -7
Step 3: Solve for U value
-10/U = -7
Mutliply both sides by U
(U)-10/U = -7(U)
The two Us at left will cancel themselves and you will have:
-10 = -7U
Divide both sides by -7:
-10/-7 = -7U/-7
At the left the negatives will cancel themselves and at the right -7 as a demoninator will cancel the numerator.
Therefore, the final answer will be:
10/7 = U or U = 1 whole number, 3 over 7 (Mixed fraction)

Question 243867: I am suppose to find out if this equations S= -0.0643t^2 + 3.2152t + 23.9801 is a good equation to base off a companies salary.
I figured it wasn't because it happens to be a parabole that goes down after 25 years of experience. I thought of tbe possibility of people staying at a job for 25 years is highly unlikely but possible... so I figured 18yrs + 25yrs = 43 years of age.
So I figured lowering a employees salary at the age of 44 and on was unethical.
Plus the pay rate increase beforehand was just way to fast and high...
What would you suggest would be a good solution for this company to pay salaries in a equation. It doesn't have to be a quadratic equation but I must be able to graph it.
