Not quite.
You are trying to get this into a quadratic equation which is:x+=+%28-b+%2B-+sqrt%28+b%5E2-4%2Aa%2Ac+%29%29%2F%282%2Aa%29+

you have the right idea with the first part of your problem.
You wrote:
(x-1)(x-(-8))=0
However, you need to multiply these and get a function of x in which ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0
So, FOIL and get x%5E2%2B8x-x-8=0
Combine like terms
x%5E2%2B7x-8=0
ax%5E2%2Bbx%2Bc=0
So:
a=1
b=7
c=(-8)
Now plug these numbers into the quadratic equation
