Question 53230: 3) Suppose a baseball is shot up from the ground straight up with an initial velocity of 32 feet per second. A function can be created by expressing distance above the ground, s, as a function of time, t. This function is s = -16t2 + v0t + s0 • 16 represents 1/2g, the gravitational pull due to gravity (measured in feet per second2). • v0 is the initial velocity (how hard do you throw the object, measured in feet per second). • s0 is the initial distance above ground (in feet). If you are standing on the ground, then s0 = 0. a) What is the function that describes this problem? Answer: b) The ball will be how high above the ground after 1 second? Answer: Show work in this space. c) How long will it take to hit the ground? Answer: Show work in this space. d) What is the maximum height of the ball? What time will the maximum height be attained? Question 53308: The instructions say to sketch the graph of the quadratic function. Identify the vertex & x-intercept(s). I seem to be lost. I know to 1st factor it (I don't believe this can be factored). Then complete the square. I think this gives me x=2.549 & x-2.549 so,x={2.549,2.549} I do believe something went very wrong here & beyond. HELP! Thanks Bunches Click here to see answer by funmath(2925)

Question 53438: Please help. I put on problem on a few moments ago but here is my last one and I can show you what I I have so far. I am really not good at this but am really trying. Define a variable, write the equation and then solve. Three times the greatest of 3 consecutive even integers exceeds twice the least by 38. Find the integers. So I have so far on my paper (x)+(x+2)+(x+4) to represent the 3 integers right? Then do I represent three times the greatest by 3x on the outside of the numbers or do I include all my integers by using 3 as an exponent? This is where I am confused and get stuck. Thank you for any help. Click here to see answer by Earlsdon(6287)

Question 53435: Could someone please help me try and solve this problem or point me in the correct direction on how to solve it. I am struggling with my last two math problems for homework. Question 54415: -x^2 > or = 9x+14 Please help!! I have to solve and show the solution in interval and algebraic form. I got through most of the problem but need help with the notation, and also want to confirm that I solved it right. -x^2-9x-14 > or = 0 factored is (-x-2)(x+7) so I got x= -2 and x= -7 as test points and by testing the regions on the number line, I found that -1 through +infinity does not work in the original problem. Im not sure where to go from here or how the interval notation should look. Thanks, Angela Click here to see answer by stanbon(57377)
