Question 99091: i don't understand this solve the equation for x
x^2 + 4x + 4 =7
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2 + 4x + 4 =7
-------------------
x^2+4x-3=0
Using the quadratic formula:
x = [-4 +- sqrt(16-4*1*-3)]/2
x = [-4 +- sqrt(28)]/2
x = [-4 +- 2sqrt(7)]/2
x = [-2 +- sqrt(7)]
x = -2+sqrt7 or x=-2-sqrt7
