Question 9884: Please help I can't figure this out!
A wire is cut into 3 equal parts. The resulting segments are then cut into 4, 6, and 8 equal parts, respectively. If each of the resulting segments has an integer lenght, what is the minimum lenght of the wire?
Answer by askmemath(368) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let's start with the second half of the question
If each segment can be cut into 4,6 and 8 pieces then it means that each segment is a multiple of 4,6 and 8.
Taking the L.C.M we get 24
Since there are 3 equal segments, the combined length is 72.
So 72 units becomes the min length of the wire.
