I had solved and got the equation because I originally decided to start with (x+4)(x+4), but as an answer for , I had some decimals, so I don't know which part I did wrong.

(x+4)*(x+4) = x^2 + 8x + 16

(x-4)*(x-4) = x^2 - 8x + 16

i believe the factors needed to be (x-4) * (x-4) because, when you solve for x, you then get x = 4.

(x-4)*(x-4) = 0

set each of the factors equal to 0 to get:

x-4 = 0
x-4 = 0

solve for x to get:

x = 4
x = 4

if x = 4, then the factor has to be x-4 because x-4 = 0

when you have the solution and you want to convert it into a factor, you have to set the equation equal to 0.

start with x = 4
subtract 4 from both sides of the equation to get x - 4 = 0
that's your factor.
