In a quadratic equation with 0 on the right side,

If the coefficient of the term in x² is 1, then

1. The coefficient of the term in x is -1 times the sum of the solutions.
2. The coefficient of the constant term in x is the product of the solutions.

We start with

8x² + 6x + 1 = 0

We can write an equivalent equation in which the x² term has coefficient 1
by dividing through by 8

x² + x + 1 = 0

x² + x + 1 = 0

So the sum of the solutions is

And the product of the solutions is
