Question 9422: My question is on standard form. What is 6 x 0.1 + 5 x 0.001 + 7 x 0.0001 written in standard form. I don't get it.
Answer by DWL(56) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Standard form is scientific notation, using the base of 10.
so your problem is (6 *.1) + (5 *.001) + (7 * .0001) = .6057
We rewrite it in Standard form as
Which means we moved the decimal 4 places to the right.
we could also have written it
Which means we only moves the decimal 1 place to the right.
