Find the x intercepts
y=x^2-2x+4
-----------
Let y=0 and solve for "x".
x^2-2x+4=0
x=[2+-sqrt(4-4*4)]/2
x=[2+-sqrt(-12)]/2
x=[1+-isqrt(3)]
x=[1+isqrt3] or x=[1-isqrt3]/

The x-intercepts are where y = 0
add 1 to both sides
I need to take the square root of both sides, but
I can't because the square root of -3 is imaginary,
so there are no x-intercepts
Here is the graph. You can see that it never touches
the x-axis
