Question 89280: Find the x-intercepts.
y = x^2 – 3x – 1

Answer by checkley75(3666)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Y=X^2-3X-1
0=X^2-3X-1
USING THE QUADRATIC EQUATION: WE GET:
X=(3+-SQRT{-3^2-4*1*-1])/2*1
X=(3+-SQRT9+4])/2
X=(3+-SQRT13)/2
X=(3+-3.6)/2
X=(3+3.6)/2
X=6.6/2
X=3.3 ANSWER.
X=(3-3.6)/2
X=-.6/2
X=-.3 ANSWER.
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, y = x^2 -3x -1).
