Question 883157: Mr. Cruz asked Emilio to construct a square table such that it's area is 3m^2. Is it possible for Emilio to construct such table using an ordinary tape measure? Explain your answer.
Answer by rothauserc(4718) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The Area(A) of a square = s^2, where s is a side of the square, therefore
s^2 = 3
s = square root(3)
s = 1.732050808........
The number can not be expressed as a fraction and in fact the square root of 3 goes on forever!
