Question 87033: I need help with a word problem- a radiator contains 10 qts of fluid, 30% of which is antifreeze. How much fluid should be drained and replaced with pure atifreeze so that the new mixture is 40% atifreeze.
this is how I set the problem up
.30(10-x)+x=.4(10)
3-.30x+x=4
-.30+x=1
.7x=1 1/.7 =1.42 qrts
I would appreciate any help because I am not sure if that is correct or not
Thank you
