how do i graph the inequality
Y>/1?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how do i graph the inequality
Y>/1?
--------
You first graph the EQUALITY:
Graph y=1 as a line parallel to the x-axis.
If your equation is y>=1 the line should be solid;
if your eequation is y>1 the line should be dashed.
---------
In either case that line if the boudary of the INEQUALITY half-plane.
-------
To determine if the half-plane solution is above or below the boundary
1st: pick a test point, like (0,0)
2nd: substitute that into the INEQUALITY statement, like 0>1
3rd: determine whether you get a true or false result: 0>1 is false
4th: if you get a false result the half-plane solution is on the side
opposite the test point; if you had gotten a true result the half-plane
solution would be on the same side as the test point.
---------
In your case the half-plane solution is above the line y=1; darken
that half-plane.
