Question 81539: Find the slope of any line perpendicular to the line through points (3, 12) and (5, 4).
Answer by checkley75(3666) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
THE SLOPE OF A LINE THROUGH THESE 2 POINTS IS
(Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1)
(4-12)/(5-3)
-8/2
-4 IS THE SLOPE.
THUS FOR ANY LINE TO BE PERPENDICULAR TO THIS LINE IT MUST HAVE A SLOPE OF 1/4 (THE NEGATIVE RECIPRICAL OF 4).
