When you have an equation like this, all you have to do is combine like terms, move all x terms to one side of the equation and all numbers to the other side of the equation, then divide whatever is next to the x, to get your x value.
5x + 2x - 4 = 4x + 5
7x - 4 = 4x + 5
3x = 9
x = 3 <---- answer
