h(t) = -16t^2 + 32t + 3
How long is the ball in flight? Round answer to nearest hundredth.
Which formula, process, etc. did you use to solve this problem?
--------------------
The equation is a parabola with the vertex at max height.
Find the time at max ht.
Axis of Symmetry is t = -b/2a = -32/-32
t = 1
Find max ht
h(1) = -16 + 32 + 3 = 19 feet.
-------------
Find the time to fall
f(t) = -16t^2 + 19
Find t for f(t) = 0
-16t^2 + 19 = 0

t =~ 1.09 seconds
------
Total time in the air = 2.09 seconds
