First off, this is not a quadratic equation! There is a direct relationship between x and y, and this is a linear relationship.
The graph is a straight line.
You graph it by putting in a value for x (anything you want) in the equation and determine what the y value is for that x. You do this for another value of x, getting a second value of y.
The x, y pairs are used to find a points on the graph where one axis is for the x values (usually the horizontal axis) and the other axis is for the y values (usually the vertical axis). If you connect these two points, you draw a line which is all the points that satisfy this particular equation.
y = -2x looks like this:

Notice that this line goes through the points (1, -2) and (2, -4)
