Question 67094: why is it that when 0 is your number under the square root sign in the quadratic formula, you can only have one answer. How can you tell which of the two answers that you would get is the right one?
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You wouldn't get two answers because you would get:
x=[-b+-sqrt0]/2a
x=[-b/2a]
Because the sqrt0 is zero you lost the +sqrt and the -sqrt
which would otherwise give you two answers.
