Answer by Edwin McCravy(20054)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
12(x - 4) - (x + 2) = (x + 2)(x - 4)

   12x - 48 - x - 2 = x² - 4x + 2x - 8

           11x - 50 = x² - 2x - 8

                  0 = x² - 13x + 42

                  0 = (x - 7)(x - 6)

                       x - 7 = 0;   x - 6 = 0

                           x = 7        x = 6
