First divide everything by the coefficient of p^2
The put the p^2 and p on one side and the constant on the other.
(1/2 the coefficient of p) suqred is added to both sides.
Factor your perfect square, the second term is half the coefficient of p.
take the square root of both sides
The suqare root of -1 is i.
