Question 544108: Use the quadratic formula to solve the equation.
5x^2 + 12x + 3 = 0
here is what I have tried
5x^2+12x=-3
12/2 = 6^2 = 36
5x^2+12x+36=-3+36
5x^2+12x+36=33
factor
5(x+6)(x+6)=33
5(x+6)^2=33
5x+180=33
5x=-147
5x/5=-147/5
I am lost from here

You were ok in completing the square until
5(x+6)^2=33
You are supposed to use the quadratic formula. Do you know what that is?
(-b+-sqrt(b^2-4ac))/2a
