Question 541682: Solve:
z^4-5z^2+4=0

Answer by acolunga3(2)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
quadratic equations -b = +/- the Square root of b^2 -4*a*c
---------------------------------------
all over 2a
so a=1 for z b=5 and C=4
now, -5 +/- square root: -5^2 -4*1*4 all equals
= -25 +/- squ.root 25-4(1)(4)
= -25 +/- squ.root 9 all over(which means divided by)2(1)
so now, -25 +/- squ.root 9
-------------------------- :the squ root of 9 is 3, cuz 3^2=9:
2

= -25 +/- 3
----------
2 => now divide by 2 to get: (sorry so long, i like steps)

- 25/2 +/- 3/2 or -12.5 +/- 3/2
