Question 518209: A swimming pool 6m wide and 10m long is to be surrounded by a cement path of uniform width. The area of the walk is equal to the area of the pool. What is the width of the path?
Answer by richwmiller(17219) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
area of the pool is 60 m^2
area of the walk is 60 m^2
(6+x)*(10+x)=120
x^2+16x+60 = 120
solve for x
unfortunately the x's are not integers.
x=3.13553
