Question 504751: my problem is x squared+8x+5.how do i get the answer? my teacher showed us a b c, but i dont understand .which number goes to each letter?(a,b,c)
Answer by rfer(16322)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x^2+8x+5
this is in desending order.
a is the value in front of x^2, in this case 1.
b is the value in front of the x, equals 8
c is the last number, equals 5
a=1, b=8, c=5
Always show them like this first before using the formula, it saves confusion.
5 is also the y intercept just like other work you should have done by now.
Use the quadratic formula, plug in these values in place of the letters in the formula.
Then solve.
Try that, if you still have trouble, let me know by e-mail.
Good luck.
