Question 499103: how would you set up an equation to represent "a rowboat is 11 times as long as it is wide"? with an explanation please. I teach and this is a test question and my fellow teachers and myself do not understand the answer that we are given
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let L = length and W = width
Since "a rowboat is 11 times as long as it is wide", this means that L = 11W (ie L equals 11 times W)
For example, if the width is 3 ft, then the length is L = 11*3 = 33 ft
